The Beginning and the Challenge

With the onset of the burst of retirement hedge funds and the banks teetering on the brink of collapse in the late fall of 2008 our industry was at the edge. Knowing full well that the market was going to change, even on good 'ole Cape Cod, we braced ourselve for the enivitable. The dreaded calls from the clients who decided to put off their plans to renovate their small cottage or build their home in "Vaca-land". I had visions of the clients who were still going forward heading for the Don Gardner Architects "Plan of the Week" and for a mere song purchase the plans for their dream home.
My partner Alison Alessi met the Donovans' who were interested in a firm who would design-build their new house on an existing lot that had an existing ranch house a short walk from the beach where Fred's father had purchased and renovated the house over the last 40 years.
